Sustainable packaging is the development and use of packaging which results in improved sustainability.
Sustainable packaging must meet the functional and economic needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs and here at Ask Mummy & Daddy have made changes to our packaging in the following ways:
Bottles & Jars/
All our bottles & jars which we fill our delicious sweets in are PLA plastic which means they are 100% recyclable and also biodegradable.
Those of you thinking what is “PLA”?
Polylactic Acid (PLA) is different than most thermoplastic polymers in that it is derived from renewable resources like corn starch or sugar cane. Most plastics, by contrast, are derived from the distillation and polymerization of non-renewable petroleum reserves.
All our Pouches are food grade biodegradable cellulose (cellophane) bags. More robust than our standard biofilm card bags. Made from biodegradable cellulose derived from renewable wood pulp, making them ideal as a more eco friendly packaging alternative to current polypropylene, PVC bags etc. The biodegradable cellulose film is coated with a thin 'PVdC' coating making them suitable for heat sealing and also suitable for food grade use.
All our Gift Boxes are 100% recyclable and can be put direct into your day to day recycling bins at home or work.
We have found many customers have re-used our packaging from using the jars for loose buttons, paper clips to homemade sauces and also seeing the gift boxes being re-used for shoes, keep safe box or even stationery.
So go on give it a go and send us some pictures!
